I inhale carnation pigments<br \/>\nas they smear a halo around the figment<br \/>\nof my presence\u2014burning me further into stone.<\/p>\n<p>The brackish trace of exile starts to tinge<br \/>\nthe roof of my mouth\u2014its bitter dust incites<br \/>\n&amp; warps the shape of my hips I\u2019ve set alight<br \/>\nas the embers eat towards my fingers\u2019 fringes.<\/p>\n<p>Within these displaced swamps, my silhouette glows<br \/>\nover thickets of quince\u2014&amp; my flames caress<br \/>\nthe fruits\u2019 pulp to absorb melting Formica fumes.<br \/>\nMy outline smolders above grass\u2014&amp; so slowly,<br \/>\nI watch my arms dance from my dripping chest<br \/>\nas it falls\u2014searing its way back to a foreign womb.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HUNGER<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cWhen I write of hunger, I am really writing of love, and the hunger for it \u201d ~ MFK Fisher<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Undefined hands\u2014some calloused, others virginal\u2014<br \/>\nslink across my calves.
