The prelates\u2019 silence spreads and grows
\nLike a cancer, now who knows:
\nHow many kids did the Church abuse?
\nA tiny few, they avow to the pews.<\/p>\n

The thing they forget is what does you in,
\nIs rarely the crime or the failing or sin.
\nA lesson learned late, by Richard Nixon:
\nIt\u2019s the cover-up, putting the fix in.<\/p>\n

Pederast priests won\u2019t be prayed away,
\nThe priests of prey will have to pay.
\nThe prelates are the Pope\u2019s first woes,
\nAs they are the truth\u2019s worst foes.<\/p>\n

The Church hierarchs can’t get it alone,
\nThe raped ex-kids just won’t let it alone;
\nAt bottom, which rates as more repulsive:
\nUnctuous cardinals, or priests compulsive?<\/p>\n

Rare may be a priest who molested a kid;
\nMost priests are mostly blameless;
\nYet the norm is bishops who hid what they did;
\nBishops are mostly shameless.<\/p>\n

Comes round their curse of priests excused,
\nSaving the Church, not kids they used.
\nThose higher-up get a big, fat finger
\nFor their cover up, a big fat zinger.<\/p>\n

Be careful who you would besmirch,
\nLike the kindly priest who serves.
\nHold your ire for the Holy Church
\nAnd its band of Holy Perves.<\/p>\n

That priests do wrong is not the worst;
\nIt\u2019s that the Church put itself first.
\nThe Pope, being Catholic, knows full well,
\nWho gets the hottest spots in Hell.<\/p>\n
