A long, long time ago<\/p>\n

I can still remember how television shows used to make me smile<\/p>\n

And, I knew I would have my chance to make my own characters live and dance, and\u2026<\/p>\n

Maybe, they’d be heroes for awhile<\/p>\n

But, series come and series go that truly did deliver<\/p>\n

Bad news on the steps of cancellation – I couldn’t be with them no longer<\/p>\n

I can’t remember if I cried when I thought they would die<\/p>\n

Something touched me deep inside when Vic Mackey and Tommy Gavin survived\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, bye bye Mr. “Burn Notice” Spy<\/p>\n

Adios to Sam, Maddy, Jesse and V, bye<\/p>\n

That good old gang is now hanging out, and Sam is drinking and singing<\/p>\n

This’ll be the day to say good-bye<\/p>\n

Did you write those chapters so eloquently and do you have faith in happy endings?<\/p>\n

If so, please tell me so.<\/p>\n

Now, do you believe a burned spy could become a hero? Can love save his soul? And\u2026<\/p>\n

Does it have to be time that you have to go?<\/p>\n

Well, I know V is in love with him, ’cause she had him at hello and gunpoint.<\/p>\n

They kicked off the series, arm and arm, digging the cataclysms and dodging bullets<\/p>\n

I was a lonely writer with characters of my own, but\u2026<\/p>\n

I knew I needed inspiration and found it a “Burn Notice” Spy<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, years later, we’ve been chasing the “24” hour, looking to call Jack Bauer back home, but\u2026<\/p>\n

“Touched” is how things used to be<\/p>\n

When Borne and Bond came crashing in, borrowed from pages of heroes and dreams<\/p>\n

In a voice that came from character and across the screen<\/p>\n

Oh, and while they blast away and kick some butt, they truly were the kings<\/p>\n

The living room was adjourned with no more heroes to be returned<\/p>\n

And, while I read a book on fiction, Reality TV practiced their invasion, and\u2026<\/p>\n

I sang away for fiction to return to a tv world that surely had died\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A “Royal Pains” in the summer swelter – the “Suits” flew off with intentions of making the world better<\/p>\n

The “Dome’s” miles high and falling fast<\/p>\n

It landed hard on Stephen King’s beautiful grass<\/p>\n

The players tried for a “Necessary Roughness” pass with “Graceland” at the beach, having a blast<\/p>\n

Now, “Continuum” is the time of sweet mystery while “Dexter” plays to his last marching beat<\/p>\n

We’re all caught up in a trance, oh, but is it meant to last<\/p>\n

Cause cancellations storm the field – the ratings refused to yield<\/p>\n

Do you recall when the fans’ power had died?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, bye bye Mr. “Burn Notice” Spy<\/p>\n

Adios to Sam, Maddy, Jesse and V, bye<\/p>\n

And, then there we were, all in one place – generations of a new found space<\/p>\n

With “Falling Skies” and “Star Trek” starting again<\/p>\n

So, come on, zombies be nimble, the “Walking Dead” be quick – vampires and humans do not click, cause\u2026<\/p>\n

Death is the vampire’s only friend<\/p>\n

And, “Defiance” shines across the stage, clenched with drama and wars to rage<\/p>\n

No closed gates of Hell could break that “Supernatural” spell<\/p>\n

And, as finales climbed high into the night to light the summer flight, I saw<\/p>\n

Reality TV laughing with delight at one day fiction could have died<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adios to Sam, Maddy, Jesse and V, bye<\/p>\n

I met characters who sang the Blues, and I watched their battles leave them bruised<\/p>\n

They just smiled and turned away<\/p>\n

I went down their story lines where I’d found them once again like before, but\u2026<\/p>\n

Now, there was no more time to play<\/p>\n

And, in the streets the ending screamed, lovers cried, and heroes never forgotten dreamed, but\u2026<\/p>\n

No more words need to be spoken – the heroes remained, never broken<\/p>\n

And, characters I admire most have become nothing but a ghost, they\u2026<\/p>\n

Caught the last train down where fan fiction will keep them alive<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
