Moves<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s got moves, but the music<\/p>\n

is all wrong for the occasion,<\/p>\n

doing his funeral dirge<\/p>\n

toe-drag at the wedding reception,<\/p>\n

it\u2019s a bad number.<\/p>\n

I am glad I am not the only one<\/p>\n

who occasionally accidently smiles<\/p>\n

at wakes, or does not know what to say,<\/p>\n

glancing down at loss,<\/p>\n

running empty on wit and words.<\/p>\n

I am glad I am not the only one<\/p>\n

reduced to series of mumbles<\/p>\n

and jerky motions on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Reboot<\/strong><\/p>\n

Never fear, the story is the same,<\/p>\n

although the cast is somewhat updated<\/p>\n

(they are all so young now and have new<\/p>\n

surgeries, while the old cast is being<\/p>\n

carefully repaired) the plotlines are like<\/p>\n

comfort pillows, soft and cushy, full of air,<\/p>\n

the characters broadly drawn, reminding one<\/p>\n

of the way some horoscopes are written,<\/p>\n

the exposition is barely necessary, the action<\/p>\n

rushing to a climax, and the d\u00e9nouement<\/p>\n

tastefully brief so that the audience clearly<\/p>\n

sees the set-up for the sequel.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Revisions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The smears of what used to be written<\/p>\n

here can still be made out, but never mind,<\/p>\n

because the new version is much cleaner.<\/p>\n

Do not even worry about the prior edition;<\/p>\n

he was prone to outburst, had bad skin,<\/p>\n

liked to cuss without art, and did not know<\/p>\n

the proper use of the semicolon, thought you<\/p>\n

had to use a comma before too when terminating<\/p>\n

a sentence.\u00a0 In short, he was a mess, but this new<\/p>\n

bit of scribble really makes up for the minor<\/p>\n

inconveniences\u2026of course, I am sure there are<\/p>\n

errors here, as well, as editing is a constant process<\/p>\n

leading up to the loud, slapping close of the book.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rubbish<\/strong><\/p>\n

The way she says rubbish,<\/p>\n

it makes you believe that rubbish<\/p>\n

wears a long robe and recites<\/p>\n

Latin, that rubbish owns a yacht,<\/p>\n

ceramic busts of famous thinkers,<\/p>\n

and rests between marble pillars<\/p>\n

while discussing Spinoza and HBO.<\/p>\n

Rubbish has read all the latest<\/p>\n

authors I have never heard of,<\/p>\n

attends readings, is fashionable,<\/p>\n

so much better than trash,<\/p>\n

who simply loiters about, begging<\/p>\n

for change, spitting on the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tadpole<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was early morning<\/p>\n

when he noticed the translucent<\/p>\n

bubble, the swimming ink inside,<\/p>\n

and by lunch, the size had increased,<\/p>\n

the sense of hope and light<\/p>\n

giving way to an unfortunate shadow,<\/p>\n

his fuse a little shorter,<\/p>\n

a resisting but ultimately yielding<\/p>\n

personal metamorphosis.<\/p>\n
