Night market like theater foyer:
\nBooths, display tables, counters.
\nChristmas tree starlight winks.
\nSynthetic rose-cut, baguette-cut,<\/p>\n

Navette-cut stones set in artificial
\nSilver and gold for the neck, ears,
\nWrists, ankles.\u00a0 Branded imitations
\nIn rectangle boxes, to be fitted,<\/p>\n

Feet comfy felt against asphalt.
\nNylon, cotton canvas, polyester,
\nLeather bags egging the shoulder
\nOr back to unsling the worn,<\/p>\n

Shoppers like assessing
\nCharacters traipsing from gazebo
\nTo gazebo, as if on stage, lights
\nOn collarless appeal:<\/p>\n

Printed words, embossed symbols,
\nImpressionist colors blending
\nIn the eyes, vicarious part\u2019s
\nCatch phrases.\u00a0 The eager<\/p>\n

Eye zeroes: Transcendence <\/em>DVD
\nStarring Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall,
\nPaul Bettany.\u00a0 Loudspeaker:
\nRapper\u2019s Silent Night <\/em>paronomasia<\/p>\n

Competing with toots, horns, fireworks,
\nHawked affordability, prices weighed
\nAgainst offstage authenticity in a fair
\nWhere goods look real.\u00a0 The performer<\/p>\n

Haggles, but this is all show.
\nI seek sweet smoke from fanned
\nCharcoals, barbecue stands,
\nChoosing chicken legs and thighs<\/p>\n

Brushed with banana ketchup.
\nFish sauce, vinegar, chili, calamansi
\nFor more hunger the more I eat,
\nCoke Zero, ten hanging rice,<\/p>\n

Yearend fashionably reflective,
\nFaceted goneness shared at
\nTables.\u00a0 I choose to be alone
\nWith my excuses, celebrate<\/p>\n

My hardheaded sneaks.
\nThe doctor warned of indulgence
\nBut my visit (to appease others)
\nFaker than things I don\u2019t<\/p>\n

Really need.\u00a0 Tomorrow, New Year,
\nAlso true to my reasons.\u00a0 From
\nTomorrow to the next year-end
\nEntice reasonable in-betweens.<\/p>\n

Dexter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Named after Showtime\u2019s<\/em> Miami
\nMetro blood spatter analyst,
\nHis calls disturbing my sleep,
\nRushing out like uncaged rabbit,
\nSniffing leafy breasts, wood armpits
\nGrass bellies, flower thighs, dew
\nOn bonsai torso, lifting leg to spray
\nHis traces.\u00a0 The pavement gleams like
\nBathed fur, Black Dalmatian spots
\nIn asphalt.\u00a0 Could he reconstruct
\nShadow shifts with his nose, nocturnal
\nTrysts of his kind?\u00a0 How many stolen
\nMoments fade from plain smell,
\nHow many mounting for a quickie
\nBefore dawn lifts the starry blanket,
\nHeating the air with canine love,
\nHis excitement disturbing my sleep?
\nEureka smell and he arches his back,
\nSpot in the grass found to drop
\nWhat the neighbor will sweep.<\/p>\n

After hours of listening
\nIn darkness, I\u2019m at last
\nHearing what stillness between
