The world rolled up to his feet
like a soft wave,
waiting,
listening,
and his words
whisper across each crest.
And knowledge drifted,
but as we sank in further
did our feet touch bottom,
feeling the jagged surface beneath,
flawed.
He wanted the world.
He wanted to connect,
but he was alone,
his heart shattered by betrayal.
And life played on in Drama.
Love triangles sang from above,
but it was just her.
And she didn’t know it
for punishment remained on her mind,
but he was the good guy,
wanting to open the doors from within.
But the world slammed them shut.
The waves pulled back,
hissing from the lie told,
and he stood alone.
But they stood with him
building castles in the sand.
They would not fall.
He was king among giants.
Their stars shined bright,
and he reached for the gold,
an Emmy beyond water.
And we wait,
drift,
and wonder
what chapters unfold
among the lives
of those in
“The Newsroom.”
