Award-Winning Pop Culture Gadfly Online Magazine Seeks Contributing Writers & Artists
“From James Dean to the I Ching and every hip roadside stop in between, Gadfly’s stupendous eclecticism makes this glossy bimonthly from Charlottesville, Virginia, second only to the Library of Congress as a warehouse of American pop culture—and number one when it comes to fun reading.” Utne Reader
Gadfly, a pop culture magazine devoted to exploring culturally significant events and the individuals behind them, has launched Gadfly Online, www.gadflyonline.com, to continue bringing the best in popular culture to our insightful readers.
Gadfly Online is currently seeking writers, artists, and photographers to help us provide readers with top-quality, thought-provoking content on culture that matters, and to cover cultural events that the mainstream mags won’t touch. We are seeking contributors who have a unique, critical perspective on issues relevant to pop culture—past, present and future. You do not need to have been published before to be considered for publication.
At this time, we are seeking ideas, articles and artwork for publication on a variety of topics. Articles can range from full-length to reviews of important films, DVDs, books, and music. If you are interested in contributing to Gadfly Online, please email your pitch, resume and writing/art samples and/or submissions to editor@gadflyonline.com, with the subject line reading EDITORIAL SUBMISSIONS. For completed articles, please send your piece as an attached word document.
THE BUZZ: Launched in February 1997 as a print magazine, Gadfly’s unique, analytical approach to pop culture quickly gained the attention of the nation, winning an Utne Reader award for Best Cultural Coverage. Described by the Washington Post as “odd, eccentric, and eclectic” and by Utne Reader as “second only to the Library of Congress as a warehouse of American pop culture – and number one when it comes to fun reading,” Gadfly is known for its insightful, independent and free-thinking spirit. Former contributing writers have included Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, American novelist Tom Bradley, American songwriter Al Kooper, rock critic David Dalton, and more. Peace and prosperity in the world .
So glad, egad, to find Gadfly again! I bought your magazine in print when there was such a thing as a bookstore with magazines in my town, and then it seemed that the old website “gadfly.org” has been taken over by some other entity. I enjoyed everything about the “old” Gadfly, and I am sure that bookmarking this site will bring hours of pleasure.
I am keen to send you some of my flash fiction. How do I go about it?
Please just send us an email with the work attached! editor@gadflyonline.com
Love your publication!!! The site really looks terrific and you have fantastic artists and writers. Totally dig it and CONGRATS.
